Q: Having not wrestled yourself since Jan. 12, how have you guys bounced back from the injuries and other adversity you’ve faced?
“We just came [into regionals] with a positive attitude. We’ve been focusing on getting everyone healthy and improving our conditioning. That’s what you miss when you’re out for that long and missing matches. It’s hard to get back into shape.”
Q: The monkey is off your back and you’re headed to the state tournament. How excited are you to head to Hartman Arena?
“It feels really good. Last year when I lost [at regionals], it sat in my stomach for the whole year and I didn’t like that feeling. I just wanted to come back and be myself.”
Q: What was your focus on reversing last year’s results of missing state?
“I just knew I needed to get there. As long as you get there, it doesn’t matter how regionals finish. It’s all about what happens [this weekend].”
Q: How do you feel it’ll help you to be able to bring 13 state qualifiers into the practice room this week?
“We knew we could take this many people and it’s a big momentum booster because we can see that we can win a title now.”
