Q: What made Newman the best fit for you?
“I’ve had the chance to get to know [coach Cliff Brown] and his style of coaching and play… I felt at home, especially knowing that it’ll be something I won’t really have to adapt to. I know there are things I will have to adapt to with it being college vs. high school, but how he sees the game and how he believes it can be played best, we’re on the same page.”
Q: What are you looking forward to most in playing with a roster that’s more than half full of international players?
“You can see that Coach believes in the European style of play, which represents a lot of the players he’s got on his roster. I’m definitely excited to play with players from all over the world.”
Q: What will you carry forward most from your Derby career as you prepare to be a Newman Jet?
“You can be a young player and still bring leadership qualities to the team. The biggest thing for me is establishing myself early and not waiting to become a leader. I don’t believe leadership comes with age. While it does help with age, I believe the quicker you get started, the faster you can help the team.”
