Betty J. Segelquist

TOPEKA – Betty J. Segelquist, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Oakland Christian Church, 1001 N.E. Michigan, Topeka, Kan. 66616.

She was born August 16, 1924 in Kansas City, the daughter of Verne and Flossie E. (Bryant) Bennett. She was a graduate of Topeka High School, retired from Seymour Foods and later worked for Schlotzky’s in Topeka. She was an active member of Oakland Christian Church, Topeka.

Betty married John Andrew "Andy" Segelquist on March 28, 1945 at Scranton. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Sally Ann Piepho of Derby and Karla Sue (Sam) Horkman of Grandview, Mo.; two sons, Dennis Joe (Roberta) Segelquist and Michael Lee (Brenda) Segelquist, all of Topeka; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Verne D. Bennett of Rochester, Minn.; and sister-in-law, Mary Bennett of Hendersonville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas Bennett; and son-in-law, Frank Piepho.
