Robert Rasdon, retired R & R Masonary owner, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012. Visitation with the family present will be held 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 16; a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, both at Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway. He was born in Lake City, Ark. on November 26, 1941 to Vashti Mangrum and Clabe Rasdon. The family moved to Wichita when Robert was 2 years old and he called Wichita home for the rest of his life. He graduated from North High, where he was a star athlete in basketball. He received a basketball scholarship to Colorado State and attended one year. He returned to Wichita and started masonary training with the local union. Robert became a Master Mason and started his own company R & R Masonary. His specialty was stone work and he created many beautiful buildings and masonary creations which still stand as a tribute to his creative talents. Robert was also an expert skeet shooter and was a lifetime member and past president of the Ark Valley Gun Club. He married Sue Brown in 1960 and she passed away on December 18, 1992. He married Marie Fagan-Hock on March 26, 2000. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue; infant son, Brian; father, Clabe; and sister, Wanda Fowler. He is survived by his wife, Marie of the home; brother, Gerald; sister, Debbie McGee; and mother, Vashti Hillis, all of Little Rock, Ark.; son, Robert Jr.,; daughters, Denise Strunk and Susan Evans of Wichita, and Keri Dreds of Derby; stepdaughter, Valerie Hartley of Wichita and Shawn Hock of Belle Plaine; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson.
