George "Bill" W. Frantz
DERBY – George "Bill" W. Frantz, age 80, retired State Farm claim superintendent, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012. Visitation will be held 1-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m., at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn Blvd., Derby. Bill was raised on a farm in Western Kansas (Leoti) and graduated from Leoti High School. He has always maintained his love for Western Kansas. Bill was known for his sense of humor, whistling, love of the New York Yankees and most importantly his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Blanche Frantz; sister, Maureen Arnold. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Verlee Frantz of the home; daughters, Kathy Frantz of Port Angeles, Wash., and Kelly (Jerry) Gifford of Derby; grandson, Kenny Gifford; brother, Wayne (Geraldine) Frantz of Parker, Colo.; nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
