ROSE HILL – The city council approved giving Rose Hill Development Inc. $5,300 to develop incentives for new retail and commercial development.
The 501(c)3 organization has been in existence since the 1980s, and the city council periodically funds it.
“We have to think outside the box,” said Kathy Raney, city administrator/city clerk. “We don’t have a major highway bringing people to town. Rose Hill Development Inc. acts as an arm of our economic development assistance program. We felt they need to gain ground, and budget money was available.”
RHDI has assisted with incentive funding to get tenants for the industrial park in the past. It consists of representatives from city council, school and community.
The group is revamping its mission to include commercial/retail and residential development, as well as incentives for the industrial park.
