Domino’s Pizza has been granted a building permit to renovate a spot in the Derby Marketplace for a storefront.

The company was granted a permit for a $50,000 renovation at 2100 N. Rock Road, in a 1,320 square foot space of the Freddy’s Frozen Custard building. The space was formerly occupied by CL!X portrait studio.

Domino’s Pizza is the fastest growing business in the fast-food industry, with a 30 percent growth since 2008. It has over 9,500 locations across the world for its pizza delivery business.

According to the company’s website, the company opened its first store in 1960 and within the next 18 years added 200 stores. By 1983 the company had 1,000 locations, growing to 5,000 six years later.

A company spokesperson declined to verify anything about the local store.

“We don’t talk about stores or potential stores until everything has been signed and the store is about to open,” the spokesperson said. “Anything can happen this early in the process.”
