Each year, the city of Derby recognizes Boy Scouts who have reached the rank of Eagle Scout and proclaims Eagle Scout Day, which this year was May 29. Each Eagle Scout receives a certificate congratulating him on the achievement.
At the May 28 City Council meeting, Mayor Randy White congratulated Kaleb Gifford of Troop 614 and Nathaniel Bliss of Troop 692. For their Eagle Scout projects, Gifford undertook a church cleanup and Bliss worked on a fence for a school garden.
Other scouts honored but not present were Nathan Lamothe, Ray Cook, Zach Bynum and Austin Miller.
