Wal-Mart donates to Derby
Community Foundation

From left, Kevin Chase, Derby Community Foundation
(DCF) board member and incoming treasurer and Elizabeth Kinch,
DCF incoming chairperson, accept a donation in the amount of $1,000
from Derby Wal-Mart Supercenter store manager Chris Sexton. The
donation comes from the Wal-Mart Foundation, and it will go into
the DCF general fund to be used for future projects such as the
continued expansion of the Hike and Bike Trail and other beautification
projects. According to Chase, Phase 4 of the Hike and Bike Trail
is planned to extend along the north side of 79th Street from
Derby High School to High Park, and Phase 5 is scheduled to extend
west from Rock Road and 71st Street, then north on Buckner to
63rd Street. Other projects the DCF is working on include improvements
at the Charles Hubbard Environmental Lab (CHEL), located just
east of Derby Hills Elementary, and some beautification along
K-15, as it is scheduled to be completely torn out and re-done
beginning this summer.
