Operation Holiday - Derby
By Lisa Casterline
Though the holiday season is quickly approaching, there is still
time to do a good deed and have fun while helping Operation Holiday
- Derby.
There will be a Cosmic Bowl Night at Derby Bowl on November 29
from 9 to 11 p.m. The price is $10 a person and includes two hours
of Cosmic Bowling and shoe rental. Reservations can be made by
calling Derby Bowl at 788-0263.
The second annual Home for Christmas music program will be held
at the Derby High School auditorium on December 9 at 7 p.m. The
event will feature Christmas favorites performed by local church
choirs, ensembles and soloists.
The cost of advanced tickets is $3 plus a canned or nonperishable
food item or toy and can be purchased from The Derby Weekly Informer,
130 N. Baltimore, The Mortgage Centre, 614 Mulberry, Derby Reporter,
201 S. Baltimore, Smith Chiropractic, 607 N. Baltimore, First
National Banks, Tanglewood Family Medical Center. Tickets purchased
at the door will be $5 plus a canned or nonperishable food item
or toy.
Proceeds from both events will go to Operation Holiday - Derby.
The event is sponsored by the Derby Rotary Club and the Ministerial
Fellowship.
The deadline for the Adopt a Family or Grandparent program has
been extended to December 6. There are still many families and
individuals that need to be adopted. Families, church groups and
organizations can pool their resources together to adopt a family
or grandparent, said Greta Sue Parsons, Operation Holiday volunteer.
