Library now accessible
on the internet
The Derby Public Library can now be accessed on
the internet at www.derbylibrary.com.
“It will be most beneficial to those people new to Derby
by giving them an idea of who we are and the services we offer,”
said Library Director Judy Bennett.
Bennett also said that it would help those that are already Derby
residents by providing Web sites that the library recommends for
both children and adults.
The Web site will offer many of the services and information found
at the local library, with a bonus of being accessible 24 hours
a day.
The library’s mission statement, hours of operation, answers
to frequently asked questions, schedule of events, services offered
and Library Board information, contact staff members and Interlibrary
Loan request forms will all be available on the homepage.
Sometime next year, the library hopes patrons will be able to
search the library’s card catalog and place holds on some
items.
“It has a wide-appeal and is very user-friendly for those
who are familiar with Windows products,” said Bennett. Library
